Hailing from Valdosta, Georgia, Ernest Terrence Hogan II (The Composer Seven-Five) was born into a military family, setting the stage for a life of movement, exploration, and a deep connection to music. Growing up, The Composer Seven-Five was heavily influenced by the soulful grooves of early '90s West Coast hip-hop and the uplifting power of gospel music, which became the foundation of his artistic journey.
The Composer Seven-Five’s musical path began in the third grade learning how to play the flute and piano, eventually expanding to the clarinet, saxophone, trumpet and violin in middle school under the mentorship of an inspiring band teacher, Mrs. Barngrover. Her guidance ignited a passion for music that would shape The Composer Seven-Five’s future. During this time, he also joined the choir at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, where he not only performed but also learned the technical intricacies of sound engineering, monitor positioning, and microphone setup.
In high school, The Composer Seven-Five became a standout member of the marching band, playing 3rd bass on the drumline and performing in the Pit. After graduating, he began working at Grace Fellowship Christian Center in Montgomery, Alabama, as a camera operator for U.P.N. network and an assistant sound engineer. It was here that The Composer Seven-Five discovered a love for music production, diving into programs such as Cakewalk, Reason and his favorite tool, FL Studio, from there, laying the groundwork for a thriving career.
In 2007, The Composer Seven-Five took a significant step forward by enrolling at Full Sail University, where he earned degrees in Recording Arts and Music Business. During his time at Full Sail University, he achieved remarkable success, winning multiple awards, including the prestigious "Ace Award" for Best Original Music with his band Jacks of All Trades for the song "I'm Gone." His band also collaborated with Roland Inc.'s Mike Acosta, producing "It's Roland" for the MV8800 product rollout, and partnered with Koldkast TV on their innovative broadband netcast network.
After graduating college, The Composer Seven-Five founded Imagine Forever Production Group LLC and signed his first artist, LLAC, marking a prolific chapter in his career. Over the years, he has produced hundreds of songs, blending technical expertise with creative vision. In 2023, The Composer Seven-Five reached a career milestone by working with Interscope Records’ acclaimed artist Tierra Whack, contributing to her single "Ms. Behave" on her album "World Wide Whack."
From the church choir to the global stage, The Composer Seven-Five’s journey has been one of constant evolution, driven by a deep love for music and an unrelenting desire to create. Whether behind the soundboard, in the studio, or collaborating with artists, The Composer Seven-Five continues to push boundaries and bring stories to life through sound. Music is his language, and he only hopes it's the communication the world hears from his heart.
